Task 2: Analysing Adverts







1. Advert- Iphone 5



The first advert I chose was the Iphone 5 advert, which shows Serena and Venus Williams getting beat at a game of table tennis.

Who’s the advert aimed at?

I chose this advert because it had a unique selling point as it applied and appealed to more then one-target audience. As it was aimed at a people who love technology and who are up to date with the latest tech. people in an age range of 16-30, but also people who are much better off and who can be able to afford to buy it or have parents who will buy. What is being advertised and what is specifically highlighted about the product?

Within the advert, the brand new iphone 5 is being shown and what brand new app it has. So that people who are interested are aware of this and most iphone buyers would appreciate this as its a star function and no other phone has this, this how the iphone 5 is betrayed to be the newest and best phone out.

Why does this help to sell the product?

This helps to make the iphone 5 look more appealing as it not only has celebrity inducements with in but also has very unique advert.

When and where would this add appear?

The Iphone 5 advert would be shown on daytime television and maybe after shows such as Gadget show.

2. Advert- Skittles

The Second advert I chose was skittles advert, which shows a man and everything he touches turns into skittles. This goes with the logo ' touch the rainbow, taste the rainbow'.

Who’s the advert aimed at?
This advert is unusual and different and applies to a wide range audience. As it is aimed at people who recognize the brand and enjoy it. The age group aimed at is age’s between10 - 30. Within this advert, there's a man who anything he touches turns into skittles. The thing that is being advertised is skittles and the brand. It also keeps the audience aware of the slogan 'touch the rainbow, taste the rainbow'

What is being advertised and what is specifically highlighted about the product?

Why does this help to sell the product?

This helps the product become more recognizable and iconic to the audience and keeps the brand name strong.

When and where would this add appear?
The skittles advert would be shown on day time television and maybe after shows such as misfits or even shown in breaks in music channels such as 4music.

Structure
The structure for the skittles advert is very anti-realist as nobody can turn anything into skittles and is humorous and also surreal.


3. Advert- NHS smoking

The third advert I chose was was a documentary styled advert which is a NHS Smoking one, this shows a man having a cigarette and the cigarette is changing into a mutation

This adverts targets an audience of people who smoke, ages from 16 to any age.

What is being advertised and what is specifically highlighted about the product?
Within this advert there's a man who goes out for a smoke and then the cigaret when the guy is smoking it forms a mutation. This shows the audience the con's of smoking and to warn them of the dangers.

Why does this help to sell the product?
This helps get the message of how smoking is bad across and help to lower the rate of health affects by smoking.

When and where would this add appear?
The NHS smoking advert would be shown after health shows like embarrassing bodies or even random in TV breaks.

The structure for NHS smoking advert that it has a realist narrative and is very factious it also has a voice over.

4. Advert- Lloyds TSB

This advert is directed and aimed for an older audience, who are starting their lives by saving and becoming independent and also looking for financial help and security. The ages group aimed at is between, 18 to any age. It also represents Self-importance & pride.

Within this advert there's a young couple that are starting out they're life together and going through life having a child growing old and there is always a train there to pass them through each journey. This shows the audience that Lloyd's TSB are always there through your life to help you make them journeys through.

Why does this help to sell the product?

This helps to Lloyd's TSB become more appealing to the audience for financial security and for journeys through life.

When and where would this add appear?
The Lloyd's TSB advert would be shown after family or mature programs.

5. Adverts – Nike

And finally the fifth advert I chose was a Nike advert for the world cup 2010, this is a realist narrative storyline about how each player chose what they want and don’t want for their futures.

The Nike- write the future advert had a target audience of majority of the audience as it related to everyone and how the future is you’re to make.

What is being advertised and what is specifically highlighted about the product?
Within this advert the product is the band and the iconic players and the clothing and logo such as the Nike tick are consuming the brand.

Why does this help to sell the product?

This helps to sell the brand and make it iconic and recognizable to the audience.

When and where would this add appear?
The Nike - Write the future advert, would be shown on either sporting channels or after a football game or anything sporty.

6. Adverts- Ikea


I chose this ikea advert as it has a non-realist narrative.

Who’s the advert aimed at?
This advert is aimed at people who have brought a new house or moved in with a partner more directed at an age group of 20 – 30 as this is around the age where couples start to look for homes together and live together. Also it’s aimed at people who have loads of stuff and no place to put it all, it’s aiming at
